Effect of Leaf Cutting Time and Leaf Part on Bulblet Formation of Muscari armeniacum ´ Early ´ Giant

Abstract

|
This experiment was carried out to investigate leaf cutting time and leaf part on bulblet formation in leaf cutting of Muscari armeniacum ´Early Giant´. The survival rate of cuttings and forming capacity of bulblets were higher in autumn cuttings than those of spring. In leaf cutting of spring, bulblets were only formed in cuttings attached etiolated-basal part of underground, but in leaf cutting of autumn, the bulblet formation was good in cuttings of all treatment, regardless of etiolated-basal part. Also bulblet number and root number per bulblet were increased in cuttings of autumn. The activities of endogenous GA and auxin-like substances were higher in cuttings of autumn than those of spring.
